A philosophy riddle from 1688

A philosophy riddle from 1688 asked - “If a man born blind can feel the differences between shapes such as spheres and cubes, could he, if given the ability, distinguish those objects by sight alone?”

The riddle was recently solved, when in 2003, 5 people had their eye-sight restored through surgery, and no, they could not distinguish.
